Gabriel's Inferno is the first in this intoxicating trilogy featuring Gabriel and Julia, following their sensual journey of forbidden love - with all the obsessive yearning of Twilight and the intensity of Fifty Shades of Grey.
One man's salvation, one woman's sensual awakening....
Gabriel Emerson is a man tortured by his dark past. A highly respected university professor, Gabriel uses his notorious good looks and charm to lead a secret life of pleasure where nothing is out of bounds. Sweet and innocent, Julia Mitchell enrolls as Gabriel's graduate student, and his immediate attraction to her, and their powerful and strange connection, threatens to derail his career.
Wildly passionate and sinful, Gabriel's Inferno is an exploration of the intense power of forbidden love.
Sylvain Reynard is a Canadian writer with an interest in Renaissance art and culture and an inordinate attachment to the city of Florence.

I discovered Gabriel's Inferno by accident, really. A book blogger/reviewer I follow announced on her page that this book was on sale and that it was amazing, and so I purchased it. Since then, I've been lost in this book for days. It's one of those reads that sucks you in, to the point were you think you're living the story and if all of a sudden something snaps you into reality again, you're like, "Whoa, wha...what just happened?"......or maybe that's just me and the way I read? Hehehe...This is a BEAUTIFULLY TOLD story of destined love and second chances, redemption, and ultimately, full and complete forgiveness.
I do understand that this book isn't for everyone though. It's long. It can drag sometimes for some and/or it can be heavy at times, especially with all the references to classical works of literature and art (that's exactly one of the reasons why I love it). But trust me, this story is amazing. If you're looking for a great, swoon-worthy romance read, this is it.

Gabriel Inferno (Audible Audio Edition) Sylvain Reynard John Michael Morgan Penguin Books Ltd Books Reviews
Loved it! It was a long read but and even though some characters were irritating, or his overuse of certain words, I sill wanted to read it. Lots of relatable content from drug use, marital/family issues, to depression and anxiety.
Gabriel has a disturbing past that keeps itself rooted in the present. His issues stem back as far as childhood but has made something of himself and is a successful professor. An absent father willed him a large inheritance and relishes in the finer things; to the point of being a pretentious ass.
Julia, shy but incredibly smart and damaged. After suffering her own childhood nightmare, only to end up in a horrific relationship, leaves her spirit broken. Trying to get a fresh start, she closes herself off from everyone but her dad until a death reconnects her.
Gabriel and Julia also share a shadowed past. Two different memories of one night but a familiar spark is all it takes to engulf them, damned the consequences.
When I read, I read to escape, for a distraction from my own reality. I loved the way music, art and literature was weaved in.
A review "maybe" is to follow in the far future. Maybe...as in synonymous of uncertainty, just so I don't make promises I can't keep. The definition of my feelings for this book can't meet an epilogue just yet...it would be a sentence without a period to finalize my review. Gabriel Inferno is very much alive inside of me. I believe that he was so beautifully crafted that you can't help wishing, he weren't just an fictitious embellishment residing in chapters. When you close the book, your imagination wishes that somewhere out there Gabriel lives, and is actually a creation of Sylvain in complicity with God...and that he breathes amongst us, after all it is a vast universe. The impact of his existence is so realistic that you want his heart to keep pulsing and loving Julia forever. I am enjoying to keep such breathtakingly beautiful and tormented character having his way while living inside me. He dances on the grounds of my heart with large strokes into my soul. I go further to review that I actually felt the very moment...in slow motion and tiny little detail...all the reason why I fell in love with this Author's fascinating mind, giant heart and expressive soul. Love is when an overwhelming level of appreciation drowns you in emotions or when that person touches you so deeply that it alters the awareness of your own identity. You catch yourself asking...huh what was that??? Wow...did you feel that? Hey...that was epic! Geez...was that a tingle? Lol Omg...I need to go to sleep, it's 400am. Please have mercy. Yes...yes...and yes, all that happens while reading Sylvain's magical words... you also know you love him when he pushes all your limits and you thank him for it. So...Sylvain Reynard thank you. I may be younger...possible older than you, but that's irrelevant matters. The fact I will take with me from my experience of knowing you, (through our mutual friend and beautiful Conterrânea "Andarta Mitchell)"...is the privilege I have had of sharing a generation with you. You are brilliant.
There are a VERY FEW books/series that I would re-read, but Gabriel's Inferno Trilogy is on the list of ones that I ABSOLUTELY would!! This love story is by far THE MOST descriptively beautiful and sensual story that I have ever read, bar none. While I count EL James's 50 Shades trilogy my ALL TIME favorite, Sylvain Reynard's series is No. 2. The intensity of the series is breathtaking. Reynard weaves an exceptional tapestry of descriptive layers setting the scenes of our two lovers first meeting and their subsequent reunion. In the interest of preserving the story for those not yet acquainted with this love story, I won't reveal any more. Suffice to say, my first foray into this genre was an excellent introduction. However, Reynard's tale of Gabriel and Julianne, is the reason I continue to read. This trilogy, IMO, IS one of THE MOST OUTSTANDING works of this genre!! Lovers of Erotica - it doesn't get any more erotic than the love and relationship of Gabriel & Julianne!! If you've not read THIS work - then you've been sorely deprived of an exceptionally fantastic love story. It rivals the intensity of a Romeo and Juliette love (minus the gory details). I don't think you will regret picking up this beautiful tale of love, love lost, love found, and love blossoming to an incredibly deep love on ALL levels!! You can't miss this!!!
